Theodore Roosevelt beside being president was an writer, explore, big game hunter, solider, rancher, conservationist, and Nobel Peace Prize winner. Teddy Rooselvet was anything but boring. Despite living with life-threating asthma in his early childhood. He build up his body and face the adversity of life head on.  Below is a list of the challenges and opportunities Theodore would face or grasp in his lifetime:

  • New York Police Commissioner -firing corrupt policemen

  • Quit the Navy to Fight in Spanish-American War
  • Join the Army as Lieutenant Colonel - and formed a volunteer a cavalry unit, later know as the famous Roosevelt's Rough Riders
  • Vice President of U.S.
  • With the assassination of President Mckinley would become President
Accomplishments as 26th President of United States
 
  • 1. Sherman Anti-Trust Act-  Help stop monopolies of big business
  • 2. Pure Food and Drug Act -  Meat inspection
  • 3. Arbitration of 1902 Coal Miners Strike- Miners got a 9 hour day instead of 12 hours shifts, receive 10% wage increase, and own representative present when coal was weighed.
  • 4. Increase U.S. Naval Power
  • 5. Established U.S. Forest Service to control harvest of timber.
  • 6. Set Aside Land for U.S. Parks
  • 7. Got approval from Congress to built Panama Canal - a crucial waterway between Atlantic and Pacific Oceans saving ships thousands mile in travel time.
